If any pertinent questions are left unanswered, you will be asked ONCE to supply those answers. If an answer is not provided within a reasonable amount of time, you will be disqualified from adoption at this time. Our adoption process includes asking questions, verifying identity, age and address, and, if needed, verifying landlords’ approval for renters. We do not sell this information, or use it for any purpose other than intended. Once the questionnaire is complete and an adoption counselor has reviewed it, youwill be contacted regarding the pets you are interested in, or pets that fit your needs and wants. You may have an email from a member of our staff who will explain the history and needs of each pet, as necessary. At ANY time, you may ask questions regarding health issues, behavioral issues, house breaking, basic care, and exercise requirements. After information regarding your potential new pet is given, you must decide if the pet you have chosen is a good match for you and the other members of your household. Many of the pets are at our rescue because their previous owner did not make the lifelong commitment we are asking you to make today. We want to help you find the best pet for you and your family and we want our pets to find good and permanent homes. Please take this responsibility seriously. It is very stressful for the animals, our staff, you and your family members when an adoption does not work out and a pet must be returned to our shelter. It may take up to a month for you, your family and your new pet to adjust to each other. Sometimes an animal’s personality or temperament may be different in your home environment than when you first met with it here in this rescue environment. If this difference becomes a problem we ask that you work with us to correct it. If we both agree the problem cannot be resolved and it is in the best interest of both you and the pet, the pet may be returned to our facility within the first 15 days after adoption. We reserve the right to determine if you choose to return an animal whether or not we will offer a refund, exchange voucher and/or future adoption privileges. After you have returned the pet to our rescue a notification letter descrining our decision will be sent by mail within 30 days. Our adoption counselor reserves the right in determining your commitment and sincerity about adopting this pet. Once your application is reviewed, we will move forward with the adoption process. You will be asked to sign an adoption contract, go over all appropriate information (including medical history) and pay an adoption fee. This fee is a general care and treatment fee and does not cover spay or neuter, veterinary exam, microchip, de-worming, vaccines, or licenses for your new pet unless otherwise stated in your adoption contract. |
